We’ve added a few new features to Earlyups.com including the ability for our users (you) to post up content. Check this out and learn about our site’s new direction, how to post and why you should…
The web world of adventure sports is akin to the wild wild west. The landscape is always changing, the rules are loose at best and turbulence the norm. We started this little site 4 years ago as a fun side project. Its now grown into something much bigger (despite the fact nobody wants to like our page on facebook 😉 )
Fact is we’ve grown into a really rad community of like-minded snow sliders from around the globe. We’re also highly traffic’d by industry types making this among the more valuable site’s to have your content featured on. Everyday a number of you reach out and ask for your content to be posted, and with good reason, its fun to share quality turns with people who “get” it.
Well, emailing us is awesome technology – if the year was 1998. We’re finally upgrading to the current century and introducing a full fledged user interface where anyone with a facebook or twitter account can register with the click of a button. Once you as a user has registered, you are able to post video, trip reports or gear reviews – and you’re able to do so in less time than it’ll take to read this post.
We are adding this in hopes this will become a community of people who share cool winter snow sliding stuff. Our rules will be loose but we do want to remain focused. Leave the cat videos, (non ski) porn, and non-fitting content for other places & times. We don’t want to dilute our current brand but do want to include the user. To do so we will continue to curate the content you see on home page of this site but we’ll also pull in fitting user content from our community section. In due time, we will recognize those who put up awesome stuff and give them credentials to post direct to the home page.
We want this to evolve into something of a place people know they can come and share their snow sliding adventures, gear reviews and photos – in a higher quality longer format than facebook or twitter allows. And without the bullshit and riff raff of a forum.
We will work to make sure our platform allows you to share your stuff in a high quality manor and yes, the more people that use it, the more money we can throw at it!
Put another way, we hope this is step one of many down the path of engaging our user base…
For those who hate reading, a few bullets – Why to post to Earlyups
- Video: Its a surefire way for your video to be seen by industry types, boost video views and its *easy*. Feel free to share your own stuff or if something caught your eye, go ahead and share with the community at large
- Writing, Trip Reports, Article type posts: Anyone looking to put up old fashioned writing/photo pieces, Earlyups offers a more aesthetic platform when compared to anything else out there. Yes, you could have your own blog but this way you are sure to be seen and read by some of the most influential people in the business – and it’ll look a whole lot better than whatever is being posted to Facebook or Twitter…
- Photos: Post higher quality photos to Earlyups and use them for a bit of story telling in horizontal format.
